It is against this backdrop that another key project is coming to Andhra Pradesh. The largest solar project in Asia will be set up in Kurnool, a key destination in the Rayalaseema area of Andhra Pradesh. Already, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has declared Orvakallu in Kurnool district will be developed as a Drone hub in the country.
Now, Reliance NU Suntech has expressed its readiness to set up a solar power plant with Rs. 10,000 crores. It is noteworthy that representatives of Reliance NU Suntech have also inspected the lands to set up this huge project in Kurnool district.
While the largest solar project in Asia is set up in Andhra Pradesh, Reliance NU Suntech will invest Rs. 10,000 crores for this project. Reliance NU Suntech is ready to set up a 930 MW solar power plant and a 465 MW battery storage project.
Recently, representatives of Reliance NU Suntech inspected two sites in Kurnool district. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken soon. However, sources concerned say that this largest solar power project will provide direct employment to 1,000 people during the construction phase. Another 5,000 people will be indirectly employed, they said.
This project, which Reliance NU Suntech is undertaking in collaboration with Seki, will have to be started within 2 years. Seki will enter into an agreement to purchase electricity for a period of 25 years through this project. The solar power generated by this project to be set up by Reliance NU Suntech in Kurnool will be supplied to various power distribution companies in the country. This solar power project will be set up under the Build-Own-Operate-BOT model.
