Ram Gopal Varma Skips Questioning In Film Controversy Case, Seeks Extension

Thursday, December 4, 2025

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma continues to face legal challenges, with multiple cases being registered against him. He recently appeared before the CID in connection with a case involving controversial social media posts targeting Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh. In a new development, CID officials have issued fresh notices to Varma in a separate case, summoning him for questioning today.

However, citing prior commitments related to the promotion of his latest film, Varma did not appear for the inquiry. Instead, he sent his legal representative to the CID office, requesting an extension of eight weeks. Officials are now considering issuing another notice to him tomorrow.

The latest case pertains to Varma’s 2019 film Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu. Following legal objections, the title was changed to Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu for its theatrical release. However, Bandaru Vamsikrishna from Atmakur, near Mangalagiri, lodged a complaint with the CID, alleging that the film was still available on YouTube under its original title and that certain objectionable scenes had not been removed. The complaint further claimed that the film hurt public sentiments.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the CID police station in Mangalagiri on November 29. Varma was expected to appear for questioning today but failed to do so, prompting officials to consider further action.
