Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is in legal trouble after making a few controversial posts on social media while promoting his film Vyuham. In those posts, he targeted political leaders Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and even Nara Lokesh, which brought much public outrage. Due to this, a formal complaint was lodged against him in Maddipadu, Prakasam district, leading to a police case and a notice for Varma to appear in Hyderabad.
Varma’s posts aimed at promoting his film could be titled as fetching controversies; the posts were full of personal attacks on the leaders. When called by police for interrogation, Varma requested a four-day postponement of inquiry and cited personal reasons, but he did not attend the scheduled inquiry.
In response to the summons, Varma filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking protection from arrest. However, the court dismissed his plea, stating that it could not intervene in arrest matters. The court also advised Varma to file for anticipatory bail if he wished to avoid arrest. As of now, Varma has not filed for bail.
With no extension granted, Varma now faces the prospect of arrest, and the police are moving ahead with their questioning. If the extension request is accepted, questioning may be delayed for four days. The situation continues to generate significant controversy.
