The Joint Collect Adarsh Rajendran expressed his impatience over the non-appearance of Rajampet YSRCP MLA Akepati Amarnath Reddy, who is facing allegations of encroachment on government lands. He deplored he has been avoiding every time by deputing his lawyer appearing on his behalf.
Rajendran, who is in the rank of Additional Magistrate, became even more impatient when the lawyer said that he would go to the Rajampet court. He wondered why he mentioned Rajampet court when the MLA was summoned to the JC court.
Meanwhile, MLA Akepati’s assertion that he would not go to any inquiry no matter who gave him the notices became controversial. The MLA became impatient for issuing notices to him by the Joint Collector on some one’s complaint.
A person named Subba Narsayyah from Rajampet has complained to the District Collector that the MLA’s family members have been occupying hundreds of acres in benami names for the past ten years. The investigating officers have already issued notices four or five times to appear in the Joint Collector’s Court, but the MLA and his family members have not appeared.
The main allegation is that government lands have been acquired in the name of Dalits and illegal registrations have been made. Notices were sent to the MLA, his wife Jyoti, brother Anil Kumar Reddy and Maradalu Sujana to appear in the JC court in Rayachoti at 10:30 am on Saturday, but they did not appear.
Advocate Sudarshan Reddy came on their behalf. Complainant Subbanarasayya has appeared before the JC court for the seventh time. He said that although he is attending every adjournment, the MLA and his family members who have encroached on the lands are not coming.
MLA Akepati Amarnath Reddy, who was supposed to appear before the Rayachoti JC court on Saturday at 10:30 am on the issue of encroached lands, attended the Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’s death anniversary meeting held at the Kadapa Press Club at the same time.
He said that he is not afraid of the encroachment of lands and will not even go to the inquiry. It seems that discussions are underway at the District Collector level on what further action to take as the MLA’s family members are absent from the JC court on the encroached lands.
