New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has urged the central government to respond to the tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump on Indian products. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he stated that these tariffs could severely impact India’s economy and demanded that the government clarify its stance on the issue.
Gandhi also raised concerns over the India-China border dispute, alleging that China has occupied over 4,000 square kilometers of Indian territory. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu had sent a letter to the Beijing government regarding the matter and called for urgent steps to reclaim the occupied land. He further stated that the information was revealed through diplomatic sources.
Countering his remarks, BJP MP Anurag Thakur said that it is widely known under which government China took control of these areas. He also accused Congress leaders of engaging with Beijing officials during the Doklam standoff. Thakur criticized the politicization of the issue and questioned Congress over past border security failures.
