The then YCP MP and presently Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju claimed that he has identified Kamepalli Tulasi Babu, who was sitting on his chest in the CID office, during custodial torture. He appeared before the Fifth Court Magistrate Latha in the Guntur District Court premises on Sunday and participated in the identification parade of the accused held in the Guntur District Jail in her presence.
In this case, along with Tulasi Babu, the accused in the case, the process of identifying the person who sat on his chest and beat him was conducted. Later,speaking to the media outside the jail, he said that he recognized the person who was sitting on his chest among those standing in front of him.
“When he was sitting on my chest, the kerchief on his face slipped. At that time, I clearly recognized Tulasi Babu in the parade when I saw him from close range. I saw Tulasi Babu on TV. There are many reports that he is the Tulasi Dal and that he made the MLA win in Gudivada”, he added.
The Deputy Speaker expressed hope that both Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will look into the fact that the Gudivada MLA supported the accused in the assassination attempt case against him. Stating that MLA Venigandla Ramu does not have any position in the party, he felt that he will be kept away from the party and will be removed from the general membership.
Raghurama Raju said that the accused in the assassination attempt case against him, the then GGH Superintendent Dr Prabhavathi, is absconding and she is currently hiding somewhere. He said that after the High Court dismissed her anticipatory bail petition, she approached the Supreme Court and that he would also file an impleadment petition in that petition. Raghurama said that it is to be seen whether Prabhavathi will also hire big lawyers like accused Vijaypal in the same case.
He said that there is another evidence to reveal the conspiracy to murder her was the letter written by the then Guntur District Collector Vivek Yadav to the superintendent of the government hospital a few hours before his arrest in Hyderabad.
“VIP is coming”, the collector wrote a letter in advance alerting the superintendent to keep a cardiologist available at GGH. “I do not understand why the then CID chief PV Sunil Kumar could not be suspended even though a case was registered against him, and why afraid to arrest him. I hope that the trial in the attempted murder case against me will go smoothly. I am confident that justice will be done, even if it is delayed,” Raghurama added.
Meanwhile, the Guntur Court has granted three days of police custody to the accused Tulasi Babu. With this, SP Damodar will interrogate Tulasi Babu for three days from Monday. It is known that Tulasi Babu was arrested by the police on the 8th of this month. Since then, he has been a remand prisoner in the Guntur jail.
