Veteran BC leader R Krishnaiah, who filed his nomination in the Rajya Sabha bypoll from Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday, said that BJP itself called him and offered Rajya Sabha seat.
Referring to his earlier stint in TDP and YCP, he said in whichever party he may be, he will always continue his fight for the welfare and BCs only. He said that he has fought for BCs’ issues wherever he is. He said that he will fight for BCs’ reservation in the legislatures.
He thanked CM Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for supporting his candidature. He recalled that CM Chandrababu was first called him into politics and sent him to the Telangana assembly. He said that he fought for BCs for 50 years.
Though he was in YCP for a brief period and as its Rajya Sabha member for two years, he deplored that hardly he could get an opportunity in that party to speak for the cause of BCs. He said that he is now changing the party so that he will have more opportunities to speak about BCs.
Moreover, Krishnaiah said that BJP is not new to him and BJP is the only party that has worn the scarf. He did not wear the scarves of other parties. However, he said that all parties are doing justice for BCs.
Meanwhile, candidates from the alliance for the three vacant Rajya Sabha seats from the state have filed their nominations on Tuesday.TDP, Beeda Mastan Rao and Sana Satish, besides Krishnaiah from BJP have filed their nominations. As YCP is not in the race, all the three candidates are bound to win unanimously. The last date for nominations ended on Tuesday.
BC leader R. Krishnaiah from Telangana previously entered the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the YSRCP. He resigned from his membership as soon as the alliance government came to power. Krishnaiah took the BJP membership online on Monday.
Telugu Desam Party Rajya Sabha candidate Beeda Mastan Rao said that he will do his best for the development of the state. He deplored that he was away from Telugu Desam for two and a half years due to unavoidable reasons. He said that it was very painful to be away from TDP for a while like his native place.
Beda Mastan Rao said that since the inception of the Telugu Desam Party, BCs have been getting key positions in the party. Rajya Sabha candidate Sana Satish thanked CM Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for giving him a key position and encouraging me at a young age. Sana Satish said that she will fulfill the opportunity responsibly.
