PSR Anjaneyulu Arrested Over Kadambari Jethwani Case

Friday, December 5, 2025

In a major development on Tuesday morning, former Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Chief and senior IPS officer P. Seetharamanjaneyulu (popularly known as PSR Anjaneyulu) was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police. The arrest was made at his Begumpet residence in Hyderabad and he was subsequently taken to Vijayawada for further legal action. Sources indicate that he is likely to be produced before a Vijayawada court by Tuesday evening.

PSR Anjaneyulu’s arrest is connected to a grave harassment case registered by Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani. The actress had previously accused being taken to Vijayawada forcibly and put under psychological pressure and harassment. PSR was already suspended when the allegations were made, and this arrest is a significant step in what officials call an increased investigation into the case.

Also charged as accused in the case are two other high-ranking IPS officers — Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni. Nevertheless, both of them had obtained anticipatory bail shortly after the case was lodged, protecting them from arrest. On the contrary, PSR had not taken any legal recourse, and that’s why he was arrested.

PSR Anjaneyulu was once regarded as a close aide of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and rose swiftly through the ranks after the YSRCP came to power in 2019. He was later appointed as the state’s Intelligence Chief. Allegations claim that under political pressure, PSR bypassed protocol and traveled to Mumbai to bring actress Kadambari Jethwani to Andhra Pradesh — a move now at the center of the investigation.

Reports suggest the actress was allegedly kept in confinement for several days and coerced to make statements favorable to the then-ruling YSRCP government. Following the change in government after the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections — with the alliance assuming power — Kadambari reportedly came forward to share her traumatic experience, prompting police to take action.

Cases have since been registered against PSR Anjaneyulu, Kanthi Rana Tata, Vishal Gunni, and former YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar. All three IPS officers have been suspended from service.

Legal experts and political observers believe that PSR’s failure to approach the courts in time may have cost him his freedom. While his co-accused secured pre-arrest bail, PSR’s lack of legal preparedness led to his arrest — a move now being widely discussed in both political and administrative circles.
