Is President’s Rule on the horizon for Delhi? This question arose after President Droupadi Murmu forwarded BJP’s representation to the Ministry of Home Affairs, demanding the dismissal of the Delhi government.
As AAP leaders are expecting Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Aravind Kejriwal to be released on bail from the Supreme Court very soon, they are suspecting the BJP is conspiring to suspend his government before his arrival.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has confirmed that the memorandum submitted by BJP MLAs, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of violating the Constitution, has been sent to the ministry for further action.
Vijender Gupta claimed in a statement that the Delhi government’s failure to constitute the sixth Delhi Finance Commission and its inaction on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports represent significant constitutional violations.
On August 30, a delegation of BJP MLAs met with President Murmu, urging her to intervene in what they described as a “constitutional crisis” in Delhi, primarily due to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi has alleged the BJP is hatching a plot to impose President’s rule in the national capital. The minister has called it illegal and against people’s mandate.
“Let me warn the BJP that imposing President’s rule in Delhi will be illegal, unconstitutional and against the mandate of the people of Delhi. The people of Delhi have given a clear mandate to Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party,” Atishi said in a press conference.
She further added, “When we see a few things from the past, it shows that there has been a well-thought conspiracy going on. No officers are being posted in Delhi, no transfer postings within Delhi, and officers have stopped attending the meetings since the elections were announced”.
Moreover, she alleged that for the last week, the LG has been writing baseless letters to MHA and the CM’s personal secretary has also been removed. This all shows the conspiracy that is going on to topple the Delhi government, she said.
