Police officials Gets Anticipatory Bail In Actress Jethwani case

Wednesday, January 8, 2025

Four police officers and an advocate, who are accused in illegal detention of the Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani case have been granted anticipatory bail by the AP High Court.  The accused were alleged of severely harassing Jethwani during the investigation.

However, Jethwani’s advocate Narra Srinivas expressed surprise that how the High Court granted them bail as clear evidence was produced that IPS officers misused their power by going to  Mumbai before the case was registered, to arrest here. He said that this bail will definitely be challenged in the Supreme Court.  He said that the case filed against Jethwani also needs to be quashed.

Meanwhile, Advocate Narra Srinivas said that former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, who is A2 in this case, has not yet applied for bail. Meanwhile, the CID has asked the High Court to dismiss the anticipatory bail petitions filed by IPS officers Kanti Rana Tatha and Vishal Gunni, police officers Hanumantha Rao and Satyanarayana, and advocate Inkollu Venkateswara Rao.

The investigation revealed that all of them had planned and rigged Jethwani in the case as per the instructions of the then Intelligence  chief PSR Anjaneyulu. PSR Anjaneyulu advised IPS officers Kanti Rana and Vishal Gunni to arrest Jethwani. Kanti Rana booked flight tickets for lower-level police officers to travel to Mumbai a day before the case was registered.

The IPS officers acted as their superiors told them without thinking about the consequences. They committed abuse of power by taking the law into their own hands and implicating an innocent woman in the case. They violated the Police Manual Order by participating in the conspiracy with YCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar.

The CID pleaded the High Court that custodial interrogation of the petitioners is necessary to uncover the facts and complete the investigation. If such officials are granted bail, people will lose faith in the government machinery. As the investigation is at a crucial stage, it feared that if the accused are granted bail at this stage, the investigation will  be hampered.
