YSR Congress Party chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has stirred controversy once again, this time with remarks targeting the state police during his recent visit to Rapthadu. His comments, which included a reference to “removing police uniforms” — something he had said in the past — have reignited tensions and drawn strong reactions from law enforcement authorities.
Reacting firmly to the remarks, Sri Sathya Sai District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ratha emphasized the dignity and effort behind wearing the police uniform. “No one gave us these uniforms out of favor — we earned them with dedication and hard work,” she stated. The SP clarified that all security protocols were meticulously followed during Jagan’s tour, with two SP-rank officers assigned for his safety and a DSP stationed at the helipad. She also confirmed that security was ensured throughout his road travel to Bengaluru.
The issue intensified when Jagan allegedly singled out Ramagiri Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Yadav while speaking about local body elections. Responding to the comments, SI Sudhakar delivered a sharp rebuttal: “This uniform isn’t something anyone can casually remove. We went through rigorous selection processes, including physical and competitive exams, to wear it. Removing it isn’t as easy as slipping on a banana peel.”
Addressing Jagan directly, Sudhakar added, “We are performing our duties with integrity. In a democracy, there’s no room for threats or intimidation. Words matter — leaders should speak responsibly.”
These statements have since gone viral across social media platforms, igniting widespread public discussion. With elections just around the corner, this unexpected confrontation between a political heavyweight and the police force is now shaping into a key talking point in Andhra Pradesh’s political discourse.
