Police arrested notorious rowdy-sheeter Borugadda Anil Kumar in Guntur on Wednesday, known for his close association with former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Anil Kumar was allegedly involved in numerous illegal activities and violent incidents over the past five years during the YSRCP’s tenure. He was also accused of using offensive language against opposition leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh in public forums.
Following the election results, Anil Kumar reportedly went into hiding in other states. His recent return to Guntur led to his arrest by the CCS police. He faces multiple cases, including land disputes and harassment of women.
Anil Kumar was infamous for making derogatory remarks in social media and TV debates, particularly targeting opposition leaders, while claiming to act on behalf of Jagan. He also allegedly engaged in unlawful activities in Guntur, using Jagan’s name to threaten those who spoke against him. His actions included making vulgar comments about women associated with opposition parties.
In 2021, Anil Kumar allegedly demanded ₹50 lakh from Karlapudi Babu Prakash, threatening to kill him if the payment was not made. Prakash filed a complaint at Arundalpet police station on January 25, 2021. However, sources indicate that no action was taken at the time due to YSRCP being in power. Police have now taken Anil Kumar into custody and are interrogating him at Nallapadu station.
