PM Modi To visit Amaravati on May 2 To Launch capital works, says CM Chadnrababu

Monday, April 28, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Amaravati on May 2 to launch reconstruction activities of the capital city. This was announced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

CM Chandrababu clarified on this occasion that the Assembly, High Court, Secretariat and Amaravati works must be completed within three years. He said that tenders have been called for the related works. With this, the work of the capital Amaravati has gained momentum after Modi laid the foundation stone.

On the other hand, the construction work of the capital is already underway. Municipal Administration Minister Dr. P. Narayana had revealed on Monday that they will be carried out more rapidly from the end of this month. In the cabinet meeting CM Chandrababu disclosed details about Prime Minister Modi’s visit.

The Chief Minister had invited Modi to visit Amaravati and thereby give a moral push and support to the State’s capital reconstruction activities. Though Modi himself earlier laid foundation stone for the capital construction activities, they were stalled by the previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy government in the name of `three capitals’.

Now that the NDA is back in power, Amaravati gets a massive boost and Chandrababu Naidu has a vision to build a world class international level standards capital for the State. Soon after taking oath as the Chief Minister for the fourth time last year, he said that Amaravati and Polavaram projects are his government’s top priority issues.

Modi’s government at the Centre is also extending support to AP capital city Amaravati by facilitating loans from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and also NABARD. Chandrababu, who was behind the Hyderabad growth as a Hi-Tech city is now determined to make Amaravati as one of the best cities in India with all amenities of international standards.

Moreover, Modis visit to Andhra Pradesh is expected to give a push to his South Connect in a big way because the NDA and BJP are focused on southern States right now in a big way. Significantly, Modi’s Amaravati visit is taking place within days of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Chennai on April 11, where he had formalized political alliance with AIADMK for the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu scheduled to take place in April 2026.

Andhra Pradesh is a crucial State for the BJP because Telugu Desam and Jana Sena Party are crucial partners in the NDA alliance at the Center right now. Farmers in Amaravati area had given their land about 33,000 acres voluntarily for the capital city development plan when the TDP came to power in the year 2014 and that land is now getting life under Naidu’s mega city plan.
