Phone Tapping Case Twist: Notices to Four Former MLAs

Sunday, December 22, 2024

In a significant twist in Telangana’s ongoing phone-tapping investigation, police have recently issued notices to four former BRS MLAs. Notices were first served to former Nakrekal MLA and BRS leader Chirumarthi Lingaiah on Monday, followed by other senior BRS leaders from the Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar regions on Tuesday. These actions reportedly stem from findings in a forensic report tied to the case.

This development comes while prominent BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) is in Delhi, adding fuel to political discussions statewide and raising concerns among BRS members about possible further actions.

Amid these events, BRS has accused the ruling Congress of corruption related to the Amrit tender processes. KTR is expected to present these allegations to central authorities during his visit to Delhi.

Adding to the complexity of the case, former Chief Prabhakar Rao, the primary accused in the phone-tapping scandal, is believed to have left for the United States. Although he initially promised authorities he would return for questioning, he has since obtained a U.S. Green Card, making his return unlikely in the near term. In response, police are intensifying their efforts to facilitate his extradition to India to face investigation.
