AP Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav has appealed to the Central Government to help Andhra Pradesh, which has been affected by the economic destruction during the five years of YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.
After participating in the pre-budget 53rd GST Council Meeting, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking to media in New Delhi, he said that he requested to clear minor obstacles on the way of releasing funds to the Polavaram project, which is considered as the lifeline of AP,
Asking the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to resolve those issues quickly, he stressed the need for extending full assistance for the project, as it was the commitment of the Center. He appealed to allocate Rs.15,000 crore in the central budget for the construction of capital Amaravati.
He asked for support to complete the projects under construction. He also disclosed the proposals he made on behalf of the state government at the GST Council meeting. He said that they have been asked to allocate funds for the social and economic development of Prakasam district along with backward areas like Rayalaseema and North Andhra.
He said that industrial concessions should be given where possible and industrial clusters should be set up near industrial corridors and parks undertaken by the Center in AP. He said that he has requested to provide assistance to the Green Energy Corridor along with funds for Mega Textile Park and Integrated Aqua Park.
He asked to release the reimbursement funds related to the acquired lands for Tirupati and Vizag airports. He said that the central government has been asked to implement the guarantees mentioned in the state redistribution act and it has been explained that the help of the center is imperative for the all-round development of the state.
