Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed profound grief over the demise of former Prime Minister and eminent economist Dr. Manmohan Singh. In a tweet, Pawan Kalyan said he was deeply shocked by the news and prayed for Dr. Singh’s soul to rest in peace.
In his message, Pawan Kalyan described Dr. Manmohan Singh as a visionary leader and an architect of India’s economic reforms. He recalled Dr. Singh’s pivotal role as Finance Minister under Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, during which he introduced landmark Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization (LPG) reforms, helping the nation recover from an economic crisis.
“India mourns the loss of a great statesman whose leadership changed the nation’s trajectory. The reforms initiated by PV and Dr. Manmohan Singh laid the foundation for a modern and progressive India,” he stated.
Pawan Kalyan also highlighted Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister in the UPA government, during which he spearheaded transformative initiatives such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Right to Information Act (RTI), and the Right to Education Act (RTE).
“Dr. Manmohan Singh’s intellect, integrity, and dedication to public service have left an indelible mark on India’s development. His legacy will continue to inspire generations,” Pawan Kalyan noted, extending his condolences to Dr. Singh’s family and friends.
“May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
