After gaining national wide recognition, the Kannada blockbuster Kantara is trying its chances for the 2023 Oscars. As we know that Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR has already been in the Oscar race. And with Kantara, it is finally happening for the Indian Cinema to roar high on the International platform.
Speaking about the same in a recent media interaction with India Today, the film’s producer Vijay Kiragandur stated – ‘We have submitted our application for Oscars for Kantara and have our fingers crossed as the final nominations are yet to come.’
Written, directed, and fronted by the talented Rishab Shetty, Kantara also stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and others in key roles.
Set in three time periods including the 1840, 1970, and 1990’s Kantara shows the conflict between nature and humans in coastal Karnataka. Presented by Vijay Kiragandur under the prestigious banner Hombale Films, Kantara was released in September of this year.
Made with a budget of Rs. 15 crores, Kantara stormed the theaters with humongous collections and emerged as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time as well as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of the year after KGF chapter 2.
