Officials preparing A Road Map For Upcoming Godavari Pushkarams

Friday, December 5, 2025

The Officials are preparing a road map for the upcoming Godavari Pushkaram. Keeping in mind the incidents that have happened in the past, various transport routes are being explored for the safety of the devotees. A preliminary report has been prepared on this.

In the past, personal and private vehicles were allowed directly into the city, which led to traffic jams in some places. This time, instead of that situation, it has been decided to park the vehicles on the outskirts of the city. Plans have been made to come from there in buses specially arranged by the government.

Advance mapping has been prepared in this regard and reported to the government. Seven routes, 151 buses: Devotees are interested in taking a Pushkara bath in the ghats adjacent to Rajamahendravaram city. For this, road mapping has been prepared around the city.

The plan has been prepared based on the traffic of vehicles coming from Srikakulam via the Kolkata-Chennai National Highway and vehicles reaching the city via the Vijayawada National Highway. In total, it is expected that devotees will come to the city through 7 main routes.

They will be stopped on the outskirts of the city. Venues have been identified for this. They will stop at Lala Cheruvu, Municipal Stadium, Luthergiri, Kateru, RTC Complex premises, Autonomous College and Quarry areas. From there, they should go in designated buses. 151 buses will be deployed for this.

The routes on which the buses will be deployed are being worked out. As part of this, the roads connecting the ghats have been identified. Since these are narrow, it has been decided to widen them by 60 feet. It has been identified that all these routes together are 29.21 kilometers in total. The expansion work will be undertaken in three phases.

Since this program was successful in the recent Kumbh Mela, the same policy will be adopted here too. On the other hand, in the wake of the incidents that have happened in the past, the main focus is on controlling the rush of devotees. No matter how many facilities are provided, precautions are being taken to ensure that devotees do not face any problems at the bathing ghats.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used successfully in the recent Kumbh Mela. With this, plans are being made to implement this system in the Godavari Pushkarams as well. It will work with an integrated traffic management system.
