YCP leaders, particularly close associates of former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy are in panic as the police are registering non-bailable cases in land irregularities allegations, following burning of documents at Madanapalle sub-collector’s office.
Fearing their arrests, several leaders are approaching court seeking anticipatory bail. In the FIR registered at Madanapalle I town police station, the accused named include former YCP MLA Nawaz Basha, Municipal Corporation Vice Chairman Jinka Venkatachalapathy, Peddireddy’s main followers Madhav Reddy and Ramakrishna Reddy.
The police submitted the details of the case in Madanapalle ADJ court. Previously Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen had announced that 8 cases had been registered, but now the matter of these four cases has come to light. During their searches in the houses of the accused, the police have seized important land documents, which were not expected to be with them.
According to police, 8 documents were seized from the house of former MLA Nawaz Basha and it was registered in the FIR that there were deeds related to the sale of land worth more than one crore rupees.
It has been explained in the FIR that among the 10 files seized from the house of Venkatachalapathy, there are xerox documents of proceedings files which should be kept in the Madanapalle Tehsildar’s office.
It has been included in the FIR copy that 59 documents were found in Madhav Reddy’s residence and 124 documents were found in Ramakrishna Reddy’s residence. Based on these, non-bailable cases were registered against them.
Cases have been registered against the accused under sections of forgery, forgery of government records, possession of forged records, theft, possession of stolen property, destruction of evidence, aiding and abetting the accused.
Meanwhile, YCP leaders are trying to avoid arrest. A petition was filed in the court seeking anticipatory bail. They urged the court to reveal details of cases registered against them and seek protection from taking any action against them. Police sources are confident that seized documents will become a basis to believe that there is a possibility of conspiracy in documents burning at Sub- Collector’s office.
