Wednesday, November 6, 2024

The central government is set to launch significant initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure across the country. With a vision to improve road, rail, and port connectivity, the plan includes the construction of approximately 60,000 kilometers of infrastructure. Special emphasis is being placed on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under the Vision 2047 agenda, with multiple new projects announced for these states.

In a recent development, the government has approved new high-speed corridors, allocating nine projects to Andhra Pradesh and six to Telangana. These projects are designed to strengthen connectivity between the two states, with plans for road widening and improved internal networks. These proposals are pending final cabinet approval, with the goal of completing them in two phases.

The estimation review for these initiatives is complete, though official decisions regarding route maps and land acquisition are still outstanding. The government has gathered reports from two organizations and is in the process of preparing budget proposals for the extensive road construction. The planning efforts are focused on addressing current demands while anticipating future traffic needs, with a target completion date set for 2047.

For Telangana, high-speed corridors are proposed to connect Hyderabad with Raipur, Nagpur, and Visakhapatnam. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is receiving priority attention in these initiatives. The Hyderabad-Bengaluru route is set to extend 261 kilometers into the state, while the Kharagpur-Cuttack-Visakhapatnam route will reach into Odisha. Another key proposal will link Choutuppal NH-65 through Vijayawada to Machilipatnam.

A notable high-speed corridor is planned, stretching 335 kilometers from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada, Rameswaram, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Ongole. Additionally, road approvals are expected to enhance connections from Kakinada Port to Uppada Beach, Nellore City to Krishnapatnam Port, Gangavaram Port to Thangalam, and from Sullurupeta to Momidi.

These infrastructure projects are poised to significantly enhance connectivity and economic growth in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, positioning the states as vital links in India’s transportation network.
