In a grand ceremony that combined healthcare and spirituality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the R J Sankara Eye Hospital in Varanasi, a state-of-the-art institution aimed at serving the vision health of millions on Sunday.
The hospital, operated by the Kanchi Math, is set to cater to the needs of people across 20 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while also providing medical aid to those in bordering regions of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
The event, however, transcended beyond the inauguration of a healthcare facility, as it became a platform for a remarkable endorsement of PM Modi’s leadership by one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders, the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kama Koti Peetha, His Holiness Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swami.
In his address following the hospital’s opening, Shankaracharya expressed profound admiration for Prime Minister Modi, highlighting his role as a visionary leader driving the nation’s progress.
“Our nation is making great strides, and a key factor behind this progress is strong leadership. It is a blessing from God to have good leaders like PM Modi among us, and God is getting various great works done through PM Modi,” he stated.
Shankaracharya’s praise for the Prime Minister went further when he introduced a powerful new interpretation of the acronym ‘NDA’. He coined the phrase ‘Narendra Damodardas ka Anushasan’, a tribute to Modi’s disciplined and compassionate governance.
He elaborated that this form of governance is committed to the well-being, safety, and convenience of its citizens, positioning it as a model worthy of global emulation.
Shankaracharya emphasized that PM Modi’s leadership is marked by empathy for the common man and highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges.
“The NDA government works for citizens with compassion,” he said, pointing to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana during the COVID-19 crisis, which ensured that no citizen went hungry. He underscored this as a testament to the Modi administration’s dedication to uplift the underprivileged and marginalized sectors of society.
Asserting that the NDA government’s governance model stands as a global benchmark, he remarked, “India’s rising status and a bright future will contribute to global peace, and our nation’s prosperity will enhance global prosperity.” This vision aligns with the belief that India, under Modi’s leadership, is poised to play a pivotal role in international affairs, bringing peace and stability to the world stage.
