Political leaders often talk about “the law taking its course,” but TDP leader Nara Lokesh has taken a stronger stance, assuring that the Red Book will bring every offender to justice. Addressing senior TDP leaders from the Chandragiri constituency, Lokesh addressed concerns raised by party members, promising imminent arrests in connection with the liquor and sand scams.
The TDP has consistently accused the previous YSRCP government of large-scale corruption in these sectors. After coming to power, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ordered a CID investigation, which he announced in the Assembly. While initial action was taken, including the arrest of an official named Venkat Reddy in a mining-related case, he was later granted bail.
The liquor scam has also been under intense scrutiny, with the CID filing several cases and conducting raids on distilleries associated with the “J brands.” Allegations suggest that these distilleries are linked to benami owners with close ties to influential YSRCP leaders. Despite substantial claims of evidence, no major arrests have been made to date.
This lack of progress has left many TDP members dissatisfied, with calls for the party to take a more aggressive approach. Leaders like JC Prabhakar Reddy have criticized Chandrababu Naidu’s cautious approach, arguing that it has allowed YSRCP leaders to manipulate situations for political gain. They urged the party to adopt a more decisive strategy to address public grievances and challenge the opposition effectively.
