Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh said that the government’s main goal is to create one lakh blue-collar jobs in the next five years through the Om Cap program. He said that the government is committed to providing sustainable employment opportunities to the youth of the state through skill development.
He directed the officials of the Skill Development Corporation to prepare a comprehensive route map in this direction and move forward in a planned manner. He suggested that special strategies should be prepared to provide skill priority to every youth in the state. Minister Nara Lokesh conducted a review on the issue of skill development.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that there is a good demand for nursing, welding, trucking, and building workers in Europe as well as Germany and Italy. He suggested that the officials should take steps to provide special training in the languages of the respective countries to the youth who have studied in those fields and get foreign job opportunities.
The Minister said that the Kerala model is ideal for promoting jobs in the nursing sector and ordered that the policies followed by that state be studied and implemented in Andhra Pradesh. He also clarified that special attention should be paid to jobs in demand in Europe and GCC countries.
The Minister explained that a database of 23 departments has already been integrated in the skill portal. He suggested that the needs of 4,639 large and medium-sized industries in the state be identified and the workforce prepared accordingly. He said that this portal will be officially launched next month.
By that time, he directed that complete information on jobs be made available to the youth on a single platform. The Minister ordered that 83 government ITIs in the state be developed in mission mode. He suggested that Andhra Pradesh be targeted to be number one in the country in the PM Vikasit Bharat Rozgar Yojana and PM Internship programs.
The Minister made it clear that the quality of curriculum, testing, internship, certification, and placements in ITIs should be improved. He directed that successful models in the country be studied and implemented to improve polytechnic colleges.
