A hearing was held on Monday in the Nampally Special Magistrate’s Court on the defamation suit filed by BRS Working President KT Rama Rao against State Endowment Minister Konda Surekha. The court adjourned the further hearing to the 18th of this month.

On 18th of this month, along with KTR, the court will record the statements of four witnesses Balka Suman, Satyavati Rathore, Tula Uma and Dasoju Shravan. It is known that KTR filed a petition in the Nampally People’s Representative Court against the controversial remarks made by Minister Konda Surekha to tarnish his reputation.

It stated that baseless allegations were made without any evidence just for political gain. He asked the court to take criminal action under Section 356 of the BNS. KTR has already given legal notices stating that he will file a defamation suit against the comments made by Konda Surekha.

In the notices, he said that a public apology should be given within a week. He said that a defamation suit was filed against the minister in view of the expiry of the given deadline. KTR stated in the petition that he was elected MLA for the fifth time and served as a state minister for more than nine years.

He said that he is currently the MLA of Sircilla constituency and working president of BRS. He said that he attended many meetings held abroad on behalf of the state to get investments from various countries for the state. He said that he worked dedicatedly for the progress of the state and worked hard to implement many welfare schemes.

KTR stated in the petition that he has received many national and international awards in this process. He claimed that Minister Surekha had made such baseless allegations against him and her comments were defamatory.

Regarding her comments, the news in the media, the articles in the social media and the news in various TV channels were stored in a pen drive and submitted to the court. Clippings and photos from the newspapers were attached to the petition and filed.

The petition also mentioned that Konda Surekha had made similar cross-cutting remarks in the past and reprimanded the Election Commission. In his petition, KTR appealed to see her recent comments not only as political comments but as a planned conspiracy.  The court was asked to consider Surekha’s comments and the criminal intent behind them and punish her according to law.
