Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, accompanied by his wife Amala, son Naga Chaitanya, and other family members, appeared at the Nampally Court today. The court session was in relation to a defamation suit filed by Nagarjuna against Minister Konda Surekha over comments she made regarding Naga Chaitanya’s divorce from actress Samantha.

During the hearing, Nagarjuna’s statement was officially recorded, and the court has adjourned the case to October 10. When questioned about the reason for the defamation petition, Nagarjuna informed the court that Minister Surekha’s remarks about his family, specifically concerning his son’s divorce, were inappropriate and had damaged their reputation. He stressed that these statements had negatively impacted the family’s dignity and honor.

Nagarjuna further explained that Surekha’s comments, made with political motives, were widely aired across television channels. In his statement, he called for criminal action against the minister for making false allegations against his family.

Minister Konda Surekha had earlier brought up the names of Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, and Samantha in a political context, linking them with K.T. Rama Rao, which drew widespread criticism from Tollywood. Leading film industry figures like Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, Mahesh Babu, and Nani strongly condemned her remarks.

Ahead of Nagarjuna’s court appearance, the actor and his family left their Jubilee Hills residence in the afternoon and proceeded to Nampally Court. In light of his presence, heightened security measures were put in place at the court premises to ensure order.
