Tollywood veteran Akkineni Nagarjuna has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking legal intervention against the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology involving his images and videos. The actor alleged that several websites are exploiting his photos and videos without consent for commercial purposes, including generating objectionable content, thereby violating his personal rights. He requested the court to take immediate action to prevent such misuse.
Nagarjuna’s lawyers informed the court that around 14 websites are using AI to create content that damages the actor’s reputation, including pornographic material and suspicious links, and even printing his images on merchandise such as T-shirts for online sale. The petition sought orders for the immediate removal of these websites and related content from the internet, citing precedent in similar cases, including Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, who had approached the Delhi High Court over AI misuse.
The Delhi High Court, after hearing the petition, acknowledged the severity of the concerns and assured that appropriate measures would be taken to protect Nagarjuna’s personal rights. The case highlights the growing challenges faced by celebrities regarding the misuse of AI technology in the entertainment industry.
