MLC Duvvada Srinivas has landed in the spotlight after being served a 41A notice by the police over his controversial remarks targeting Jana Sena Party (JSP) leader Pawan Kalyan during the YSRCP regime. The incident, involving Srinivas displaying a shoe in a provocative gesture aimed at Pawan Kalyan, sparked outrage among JSP supporters, who filed complaints that eventually led to legal action.
Reacting to the notice, Srinivas declared that he was unfazed and accused the ruling TDP-JSP alliance of engaging in political harassment. He claimed that ever since the alliance came to power in 2024, JSP workers have been subjecting him to threats and online abuse, including warnings to set his car on fire and harm him physically. Despite providing evidence and lodging formal complaints with the police, Srinivas alleged that no substantial action has been taken, with authorities only filing an FIR without follow-up investigations.
Srinivas questioned the timing of the notice, highlighting that his remarks were made two years ago, yet his grievances against JSP activists have been ignored. He accused the ruling coalition of indulging in revenge politics and issued a stern warning, stating that his party would respond decisively when back in power. Referring to Newton’s third law, he remarked, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,” signaling retaliation against what he described as politically motivated actions.
Additionally, Srinivas expressed concern about harassment faced by others, including Divvela Madhuri, who he said filed multiple police complaints regarding threats but received no response. He criticized the apparent bias, pointing out that even after 15 days of her complaints, an FIR had not been registered.
The issue traces back to a series of verbal exchanges during Pawan Kalyan’s opposition to the YSRCP government. Pawan Kalyan’s fiery remarks were met with counterattacks from YSRCP leaders like Srinivas and Perni Nani, including Srinivas’ infamous shoe-gesture incident. This act has now escalated into a legal and political storm.
