The general elections of 2024 are approaching within less than a year and the MLA tickets lobbying has already begun within the ruling party YSRCP. The leaders are competing for MLA tickets more than MP seats this time.
YSRCP rose to power in 2019 with as many as 151 MLAs and 22 MPs creating history but the party failed to make its mark as far as development is concerned. Still, some schemes and a large share of the vote bank are still with the YSRCP thereby making it one of the hot favorites of voters. Thus the sitting MLAs and other leaders who failed to get the B-form started lobbying for the MLA ticket again in 2024. As this competition is not enough, the sitting MPs except RRR are also working hard to get the MLA seat instead of MPs for many reasons better known to them. MPs like Margani Bharat, MP Vasantha, and a few wanted to become MLAs rather than MPs. They state that having a connection with their locals by being an MLA with one constituency is easier than observing a big region of being an MP. Also, the regional differences and nativity issues of south MPs in Parliament are making them hard to sustain in the capital.
This time the YSRCP Chief YS Jagan has got a tough task ahead of him in giving MLA seats. Since the competition is high, he might give seats to those leaders whose graphs are better. Also, Jagan is considering this political strategy party i-PAC’s surveys of individual MLAs in their respective constituencies.
