Microsoft To set up Research Center In Amaravati’s Quantum Valley

Monday, December 8, 2025

Big companies are queuing up to enter the Quantum Valley in the capital Amaravati. While IBM has already come forward to set up a quantum computer, Microsoft is also preparing to set up a research center. It seems that discussions between officials and representatives of the company have reached a conclusion in this regard. An MoU will be signed with the government in a few days on the establishment of the research center.

IBM has already signed an agreement with the state government to set up a quantum computer with a capacity of 156 qubits. Officials say that some other leading companies are also queuing up for the state. If IBM sets up a ‘deco’ system quantum computer, Microsoft will set up a different quantum computer. However, officials say that there is still no clarity on how many qubits Microsoft will set up.

Another building of 4,000 square feet is to be built for Microsoft in Quantum Valley. Will the company build it itself? Should the government build it and provide it? Officials say that clarity will come when the MoU is signed. Microsoft has set up a quantum computer with a capacity of 50 qubits at its headquarters in America. The company is planning to expand it.

As our state has taken the lead in adopting quantum technology, it has chosen Amaravati to set up a research center. With the arrival of giant companies, the state will gain special recognition at the global level by exporting services abroad. Microsoft has set up a regional center in Hyderabad after its headquarters in America for software manufacturing and exports. With this, Hyderabad’s status has increased significantly.

The government’s goal is to provide infrastructure facilities in 9 million square feet in Amaravati Quantum Valley in phases. The government will construct an iconic building in an area of 40,000 square feet for IBM and IT hardware manufacturing companies. There are many technologies in quantum computing.

Companies like Google, Amazon, IonQ, Righetti Computing, and Quantum are conducting research to expand this. In view of this, there is uncertainty among the authorities about how successful it will be if IBM alone goes ahead. For example, cell phones have come out in the past under the names of Nokia, Samsung, Apple, and BlackBerry.
