Media baron and Chairman of Eenadu group of companies, Ramoji Rao, passed away due to ill-health in the wee hours of Saturday in Hyderabad. He was 88 years old. He

As per reports, Ramoji Rao has been battling with life due to age related ailments from the past few months. On June 5th, he was admitted in a private hospital in Hyderabad due to breathing issues. Doctors have reportedly implanted a stent and kept him under a ventilator. Unfortunately, he didn’t respond to the treatment and passed away early morning at 04:50. His body will be shifted to his residence in Film City.

Born in 1936 on November 16, Cherukuri Ramoji Rao hails from Pedaparupudi Krishna district. He initially started his career as a farmer and later turned into a businessman with the launch of Priya Pickles. Then, he established Eenadu paper in 1974 on August 10th and turned into a Media Moghul. He also launched Usha Kiran Pictures and produced numerous films in Tollywood.

Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad is the biggest film studio in the World. Eenadu is the largest circulated news daily in vernacular and ETV is a popular news channel run by him. He is known for adhering to journalistic values and calling a spade a spade irrespective of who is power. His Margadarshi Chit fund limited also saw tremendous success in Telugu States.

The previous government in Andhra Pradesh targeted Ramoji Rao and foisted several cases on Margadarshi. But, he didn’t bat an eyelid and attacked Jagan Mohan Reddy by publishing the atrocities committed by his government.

Ramoji Rao played a significant role in demolishing the YSRCP. He gave a strong reply to Jagan’s vindictive politics through his editorials.

Government of India conferred him with Padma Vibhushan in 2016 for his contribution to journalism.
