Lokesh says cases Filed Against Teachers By Jagan’s Regime To Be withdrawn

Saturday, November 16, 2024

Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the cases filed against teachers by the previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime  will be withdrawn. Answering questions in Assembly, he said.

“The duty of teachers is to teach students. They should not be tortured or assigned other tasks. But the previous government took photos of bathrooms with them. We abolished this policy when our government came to power.”

The minister said that the DSC process will be completed without attracting legal complications. “Since 1994, we have given 15 DSC notifications under the TDP government. The Jagan government, which came to power in 2019, said that it was notifying 2.20 lakh jobs, of which 1.80 lakh teacher posts would be filled. The notification was given two months before the elections and the posts filled by Jagan through DSC are zero,” Lokesh said.

When MLA Madhavi requested that age relaxation be given to DSC candidates, Lokesh said that the file related to this is under consideration with the Chief Minister. When Palla Srinivas asked when the DSC process would be completed, he said that the process would be completed before the start of the next academic year.

“Teachers are the reason for the change of government in the state. That day, teachers took to the road and fought for their rights. From that day, people also got courage and opposed the government. Out of that anger, the Jagan government harassed teachers by filing false cases,” Lokesh recalled.

He said that 6 lakh students have decreased in government schools in the last five years. He said that they are working towards changing the controversial GO 117, which was brought by the previous government to merge schools and increase the workload of teachers, and are in talks with various associations.

Lokesh said that they are allocating time to teachers and learning about their problems every week, which has given them the opportunity to learn about field-level issues.

Meanwhile, APCPSEA President and General Secretary Pathan Baji and Karimi Rajeshwara Rao expressed happiness over Minister Lokesh’s announcement in the Assembly that cases against employees and teachers will be withdrawn. They said that they had called for ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ on September 1, 2022, and due to this, the then YSRCP government had filed cases against thousands of CPS employees. They also appealed to restore the old pension and bring light to lakhs of families.
