As the Assembly elections of Telangana are approaching three months from now, the leading survey agencies of the state are quite active gauging the mood of the voters. In one of the trustworthy surveys done by a reputed organization, the results are not in much favor of the ruling party of BRS.
Telangana CM KCR who led the TRS into victory twice is looking forward to scoring the hat trick since the oppositions aren’t strong enough to form their own governments. However, the second term was not so satisfactory as the voters started to feel there should be a change of power. The growing anti-incumbency added more weight to the declining vote bank of BRS as the latest surveys state a solid 7-8% drop. In the 2018 elections, KCR secured a vote share of 47% but now it has declined to 40% for 2023’s general polls. Political experts state that the welfare schemes and freebies are the reason for the decline to settle at 40% or else it could have been more than the worse.
On the contrary, the opposition parties like Congress which got a solid 27%, and BJP some 16% are not even in the strongest position. Both the parties have internal issues and since they will never go along, BRS is at the advantage level as the anti-incumbency votes shall be split between the two opposition parties.
