After Rayalaseema districts, the highest number of land irregularities occurred in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts during previous YCP regime, said Revenue Special Principal Secretary RP Sisodia. He said that the land value here is very high. In some places in Rayalaseema, the value of an acre is equal to one cent of land in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. So, so fell like hawks on these lands, he added.
During his visit to these two districts, he said that there are suspicions that the lands of the poor as well as the government lands have been looted and only few bought hundreds of acres. He said that the freehold lands have gone into the hands of some and likely many irregularities to be exposed during field-level observations to be conducted on Friday and Saturday.
RP Sisodia said that assigned, prohibited list, dotted land and free hold lands have changed hands in a huge way in the state. It has been revealed that there are allegations of creating false documents, tampering with records and looting of lands. In this context, he said that a model is being given to Tehsildars and Sub-Registrars.
He said that the details of the lands before April 1, 2019 and by April 1, 2024 will be analyzed and irregularities will be resolved. Sisodia said that 13 lakh acres have been identified for free hold across the state and 25,000 acres have been registered. Further sales have been stopped for three months.
He said that it will be identified where the irregularities have taken place in these. He said that he did not oppose the Assigned Lands Regularization Act, but we must see whether justice was done to the poor. He alleged that some farmers were deceived and bought assigned lands for Rs.5 lakhs.
After regularization, the value of those lands has increased to Rs.5 crores, and if any irregularities or mistakes are made, the records will be changed. “During the administration of the previous government, land was generously allotted to many organizations at a low price in the state. There were cases of cancellation of land use and allotment rules in the past. Such matters should be fully discussed and a decision should be taken,” he added.
