YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is going through a dramatic transformation after its humiliating loss in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh election, securing a mere 11 seats. Since then, the party has faced a series of defections with a number of MPs, MLCs, and top leaders defecting to opposition parties, heightening the crisis.
To add to the unrest, senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy recently quit his MP seat and YSRCP membership, announcing his retirement from active politics to attend to personal issues. In reaction to these losses, party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a massive shake-up to shore up the party and strengthen its leadership.
Jagan’s Leadership Reshuffle
To address the growing leadership vacuum, Jagan has introduced key organizational changes, appointing:
Kurasala Kannababu as regional coordinator for North Andhra, replacing Vijayasai Reddy.
Dadisetti Raja as Kakinada district party president.
Chitluru Ramesh Goud and Rachamallu Ravishankar Reddy as state secretaries.
YSRCP’s Road to Revival
Hoping to curb future defections, Jagan has been in hard talks with district leaders, instituting tactical measures to regain the party’s ground. He seeks to rebuild the lost grounds and gear for coming electoral combat.
In a recent meeting with party workers, Jagan gave an indication of a powerful political comeback, calling his game plan “Jagan 2.0.” He believed that people’s discontent with the current ruling alliance is growing at a fast pace and was optimistic that YSRCP would return to power in the coming elections. He assured party activists that YSRCP has come to stay and fearlessly predicted 30 more years of rule under his reign.
Through these aggressive steps, Jagan is setting the stage for a spectacular political return, intent on bringing back YSRCP to dominance in Andhra Pradesh politics.
