KTR has been trying consistently to discredit Revanth Reddy’s increasing clout in the Congress high command, perceiving that discrediting Revanth’s position would make it easier for him to make his own political maneuvers. For several months, KTR has been trying to build a narrative and tell the world that Rahul Gandhi is moving closer to the BJP, while at the same time claiming that the political life of Revanth in Telangana is derailed. Yet, with all this, Revanth’s clout in Congress keeps increasing. His participation in suggesting the Vice Presidential candidate was an open sign of his rising prominence, which has only fueled KTR’s frustration. However, KTR refuses to relent on his approach to undermine Revanth’s prominence.
Speaking to party workers at Telangana Bhavan recently, KTR reiterated his charges that Revanth was joining hands with the BJP. KTR did not leave it at that; he ridiculed Rahul Gandhi, labeling him as irrelevant in today’s politics. KTR also accused a BJP MP of having won a road contract and blamed the BJP for failing to take action against Revanth in spite of such nexus. All these charges form the core of KTR’s narrative against Revanth, with an implication that the BJP is covering him up because of political considerations.
In spite of KTR’s relentless attacks, Revanth’s hold on the Congress still increases. His political maneuvers, starting from his suggestion of the Vice President, have only cemented his position. Although KTR’s allegations regarding the BJP’s purported protection of Revanth are still unsubstantiated, they keep creating the narrative. But without specific action by the BJP against Revanth, KTR’s allegations hang out with no support.
While this, KTR’s political ally Jagan Reddy has fuelled the fire by proposing a “Link” between Rahul Gandhi, Revanth, and Chandrababu Naidu, meaning that there might be a political pact among leaders. KTR, on the other hand, proposes that there exists a “Link” between Modi and Revanth. Both leaders are telling opposing stories, but the leaders appear to be advancing a similar agenda—casting suspicions among their supporters regarding the relationships they claim their political opponents are building.
