Accusing that the Congress party is deceiving the people with false promises, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao asked Revanth Reddy government that when it will give `Ambedkar’s Abhaya Hastham’ benefits to Dalits again. He criticized that the Congress party promised to give Rs 12 lakh to dalits under this scheme, but till now not even Rs 12 was given.
Participating as chief guest in BR Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations held at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday, KTR recalled that just before elections AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge in Chevella announced this scheme as part of the party’s SC ST Declaration.
After coming to power, he said Revanth Reddy presented two budgets in the assembly, but nowhere he mentioned this scheme. He asked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy if he should give `Amedkar Abhay Hasatham’ to dalits or not? Moreover, he said that Congress promised to give Rs 6 lakh for SC STs under the double bedroom scheme.
On the occasion of Babasahb Jayanthi, he asked the Congress government what happened to its promise of Rs 6 lakh for houses? Where is Kharge, where is Rahul Gandhi?, who had promised dalits about these schemes?
Stating that Dr. BR Ambedkar’s ideas were said to be the reason for the formation of new states in the country, KTR asserted that only an adventurer, dreamer, and a courageous leader like KCR can think of a program like Dalit Bandhu or Rythu Bandhu and implement them.
He said that when such programmes were formulated, KCR had never thought about politics and weighed the pros and cons and wondered if that would bring seats or not. One must have courage to think and implement such programmes, he said.
He recalled that Congress promised to give 28 percent share in government contracts to SCs and STs. Why didn’t Revanth Reddy do it? What happened to the promise that he said that he would give pattas to assigned lands?, he asked.
Moreover, KTR said that Congress promised Vidya Jyothila scheme, under which SCs and STs will be given Rs. 10,000 if they pass 10th class, Rs. 15,000 if they pass intermediate, Rs. 25,000 if they complete graduation, Rs. 1 lakh if they do PG, and Rs. 5 lakh if they do PhD. What happened today?, he asked. He demanded that Revanth Reddy should answer the Dalit community and the people about the fate of his promises.
Meanwhile, KTR alleged that the Modi government is anti-poor and Modi will not like it if the poor are given a pension of Rs. 2000, if they waive off loans, and if they give free electricity. But, he said that Modi will like it if Rs. 16.50 lakh crore loans are waived off to big corporates.
