BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the Congress government for its failure to deliver on promises made to farmers, during the BRS Rythu Maha Dharna held at the Clock Tower Crossroads in Nalgonda.
KTR alleged that the Congress government has not released funds for the Rythu Bandhu scheme, despite being in power for over a year. “Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had forewarned that Congress would discontinue Rythu Bandhu if elected. His words have come true as not a single rupee has been disbursed under the scheme,” KTR stated.
Highlighting KCR’s contributions to Nalgonda, he said, “A minister questioned in the Assembly what KCR has done for this district. Under his leadership, Nalgonda became the number one district in paddy production. KCR’s government has provided ₹73,000 crore to farmers under Rythu Bandhu.”
KTR criticized the Congress for neglecting the welfare of farmers, holding the party responsible for the struggles of Nalgonda’s youth. “The Congress government has betrayed farmers by failing to deliver on its promises. Before the elections, Revanth Reddy made tall claims but has not fulfilled even one commitment after coming to power,” he remarked.
He further pointed out that out of the ₹49,000 crore promised for loan waivers, not even a quarter has been implemented. “Revanth Reddy, who assured ₹15,000 under Rythu Bandhu, eventually reduced it to ₹12,000. Such betrayals may even be termed ‘historic’ by the Congress,” he quipped.
Taking a dig at the government’s inefficiency, KTR said, “Applications are being demanded for everything, ration cards, Rythu Bharosa, caste census. If anyone is thriving under Congress rule, it is the photocopy shop owners.”
