KTR Opposes Delimitation, Warns of Disadvantage To Southern States

Monday, March 24, 2025

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has raised strong objections to the proposed Lok Sabha delimitation, stating that it would be unfair to southern states. He emphasized that failing to challenge the process would be a historical mistake.

KTR attended an all-party meeting convened by the DMK to discuss the potential impact of delimitation on southern states. Addressing the media after the meeting, he called for a united stand among states against the proposed changes. He accused the NDA government of discrimination and expressed concerns that Telangana’s representation in Parliament could be reduced as a result.

He argued that increasing parliamentary seats based solely on population contradicts the principles of federalism and warned that such an approach would negatively impact progressive states that significantly contribute to national development. KTR further cautioned that the proposed delimitation process could lead to excessive centralization of power, posing a risk to democratic governance.
