The case related to the Formula-E race with Telangana Minister K. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, has heightened political tensions in the region. Reports suggest that the Governor has given the formal consent for the investigation, where the Anti-Corruption Bureau will file an FIR against KTR. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the inquiry will begin after the formal consent comes. A strong statement issued by KTR himself to the press has sparked many speculations about his being detained or arrested.
KTR is under scrutiny for allegedly authorizing the release of Rs 46 crore for the Formula-E event without the necessary clearance from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). Along with KTR, former Municipal Special Secretary Arvind Kumar and the Chief Engineer are also being investigated. Arvind Kumar has already been served notices related to the fund mismanagement. With the Governor’s approval now in place, the ACB is preparing to file an FIR and proceed with the investigation.
Revanth Reddy has promised that the investigation will go on once he gets the formal approval from the Governor. KTR has defended his decision against the allegations stating that the money was spent to give a global image to Hyderabad by conducting the Formula-E race. He also agreed to go behind the bars if needed. With the green light from the Governor, the ACB is expected to take further steps adding on to the ongoing political unrest in the state.
At the heart of the issue is the allegation that KTR authorized the release of Rs 46 crore for the event without HMDA’s approval. While KTR maintains that the event will benefit Hyderabad’s international reputation, the controversy has sparked political debates across the state. As the investigation progresses with the Governor’s approval, the situation is set to fuel further political turmoil in Telangana.
