KTR Advocates For Extended Telangana Assembly Sessions

Sunday, December 22, 2024

Hyderabad: Former Minister and Sircilla MLA KTR has proposed a significant change in the structure of Telangana State Legislative Assembly sessions following the lengthy proceedings on Monday. Addressing Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu, KTR suggested that future sessions be extended to 20 days to facilitate more effective discussions.

The current session, which began at 10 am on Monday with the aim of addressing and approving 19 issues in a single day, was adjourned until 3 am the following day. KTR acknowledged the Legislative Affairs Minister’s proposal to avoid lengthy speeches but emphasized that with 57 new members in the House, it is essential to allow time for their contributions.

He recommended that instead of attempting to cover 19 issues in one day, the Assembly should focus on discussing 2 or 3 key issues each day. This approach, he argued, would enable more thorough and meaningful deliberations. KTR expressed readiness to cooperate fully with the revised schedule, stressing that if necessary, the next session should be extended to ensure a comprehensive discussion of legislative matters.
