The Congress has been rocked by the allegations made by Konda Surekha’s daughter Sushmita that the Congress government is dominated by reddys and targeting her mother, a BC minister. Although none of the party leaders have spoken out on the issue, the party high command has taken the issue seriously and is focusing on it.
The party, which has already been on the defensive over BC reservations, is now reportedly trying to resolve the Konda Surekha issue delicately. However, she did not attend the cabinet meeting held on Thursday. First, Konda Surekha and her daughter Sushmita met Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka at Praja Bhavan. They explained the developments that had taken place since Wednesday night.
Later, Surekha and Sushmita met Congress state affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan at the MLA quarters. Before the meeting, Meenakshi Natarajan spoke to Minister Konda Surekha on the phone. She advised Surekha not to go to the media. Later, Minister Surekha and her daughter met TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud.

After the meeting, Konda Surekha spoke to the media and said that the Congress high command had spoken about this dispute and promised to resolve it.
Minister Surekha said that she is going with the assurance that they will take care of the rest of the matters. It seems that she has mentioned to the leaders that she and her family have been targeted and harassed for the last few days.
She explained the developments in the Deccan Cement management case, the discussions held with them, the irregularities of the company and other matters. In this context, all the other ministers except Konda Surekha attended the cabinet meeting.
“I discussed the latest developments with Meenakshi Natarajan and Mahesh Kumar Goud. I explained my thoughts and difficulties to them. They assured me that they would try to resolve my problem. The party leaders said that they would settle my matters. I am going with the assurance that they will take care of the rest. I assure you that whatever decision is taken, I will proceed as per the instructions given by them,” Surekha said.
