After a day long uproar over her remarks about the two-years old diverse of Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, Minister Konda Surekha finally conveyed her apologies to Samantha on her comments. She apologized to actress Samantha for this stating that the intention of her comments was to question a leader’s belittling attitude towards women, but not to hurt Samantha’s sentiments.
She said that the way she grew up with self-reliance was not only his admiration but also an ideal. Minister Surekha said that if she or her fans were offended by her comments, she would unconditionally withdraw her comments and asked them not to think otherwise. She tweeted to this effect.
“The intention of my comments is to question a leader’s belittling attitude towards women. But not to hurt your sentiments @Samanthaprabhu2. The way you have grown up with self-reliance is not only my admiration but also a role model. If you or your fans are offended by my comments, then unconditionally reject my comments. Don’t think otherwise.”
Her apologies came after BRS executive president KT Rama Rao slapped a defamation notice to her demanding an unconditional apology to her comments, besides withdrawal of words. Also her allegations were strongly condemned by Akkineni Nagarjuna, his wife Amala, son Naga Chaitanya and Samantha advising her not to drag their family life into the political arena.
Moreover, all of them asserted that their divorce was with mutual consent, respecting sentiments of each other and nothing to do with politics. Meanwhile, BRS circles expressed the view that Konda Surekha’s unwarranted comments on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi were `political motivated’ to divert the public attention from the atrocities being committed by the government against poor people in the form of HYDRA.
Already the High Court took a strong view on HYDRA’s demolition drive, the Congress high-command was angry with chief minister Revanth Reddy, most of his cabinet colleagues are also criticizing and the opposition parties are going streets meeting victims creating anti-government sentiments.
It may be recalled that Koda Surekha’s comments are being condemned by several film personalities, not a single Congress leader, even her ministerial colleagues come to her rescue.
