Kommineni Gets Bail From Supreme Court, But Release Delayed

Friday, December 5, 2025

Despite the Supreme Court granting bail to Kommineni and ordering his immediate release, he continues to remain in jail — a development that has not only surprised political observers but also left YSRCP circles deeply confused.

Though YSRCP’s legal face, Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, did not argue the case in court, he was quick to appear before the media in Delhi, dressed in his advocate’s robe, proudly interpreting the court’s verdict. However, when it came to executing the ruling on the ground, the party’s legal team failed to act with the required urgency — a lapse now drawing criticism from within.

According to sources, the delay began right at the top. Even though Ponnavolu was in Delhi at the time, he reportedly failed to secure the official copy of the judgment on time. Due to this oversight, the crucial bail order reached the legal team only late in the evening — after court hours — making it impossible to initiate Kommineni’s release on the same day.

The inaction didn’t stop there. On Saturday, there was another missed opportunity to move the process forward. Some political insiders claim that senior YSRCP leaders may have deliberately held back, preferring to delay Kommineni’s release. Regardless of motive, the legal team’s lack of urgency has become increasingly apparent.

With Sunday being a non-working day for jail authorities, the release couldn’t proceed. That leaves Monday as the next possible window. However, there’s another hurdle: the Supreme Court has directed that bail conditions be framed and processed by the local lower court. Whether this can be completed on Monday remains uncertain.

Though bail was granted several days ago, Kommineni might still spend another four to five days in custody — a delay that many view as strategic rather than accidental, hinting at internal politics within the YSRCP.

In a related development, another key individual, Krishnamraju, is also facing a similar lack of support. Party insiders say he had to engage a private lawyer to handle his case, as YSRCP has allegedly distanced itself from him. Reports suggest the party has made it clear to its legal team not to extend any legal assistance to Krishnamraju.
