Friday, January 24, 2025
Union Minister Kishan Reddy lauded the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) for revolutionizing politics in the state, highlighting his introduction of numerous welfare schemes that ensured benefits reached even the most marginalized communities. He commended NTR’s vision, which transformed the lives of ordinary people.
Reddy also paid tribute to Bihar’s first non-Congress Chief Minister, Karpoori Thakur, acknowledging his exceptional governance and dedication to the upliftment of SC, ST, and BC communities. He noted Thakur’s involvement in the freedom struggle since his student days and his efforts to promote Hindi while preserving local languages.
Reflecting on the 1970s, Reddy pointed to the Janata Party’s quiet revolution against Indira Gandhi’s administration, with Thakur playing a crucial role in the movement. He also praised Thakur for spearheading the alcohol prohibition initiative in Bihar.
Criticizing the Congress Party, Reddy remarked that it had become synonymous with the Nehru family, which he claimed monopolized national honors, including the Bharat Ratna. He accused the Congress of fostering an ideology that believed only the Nehru family should lead the country, alleging that this mindset contributed to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s electoral defeat. Reddy further criticized Congress for its policies, which he claimed contradicted Ambedkar’s ideals and the Constitution.
