The abrupt suspension of MLC Kavitha from the party is seen to be sending conflicting signals to the party cadre. Though the issue of `cold war’ between KTR and Kavitha have been taking center stage for some time, never former chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao seen of attempting to create rapport between them.
He is not seen talking to them in an effort to find out some solution or even trying to warn them. Kavitha’s outbursts against her `isolation’ in the party have been giving clear indications that she may not leave other options, except to revolt. But, KCR even refused her repeated requests to meet him and convey her anguish.
At this stage, suspending them from the party, without any efforts of discussing with senior party leaders or giving a show cause notice, is felt by many will further worsen the party’s situation. Several party leaders are worried that it may affect the party’s prospects in the forthcoming local body elections.
The developments in the BRS party, which once did not cross the line drawn by KCR, are creating a feeling that KCR’s words have no value. Where BRS leader KCR should have said a single word, his own children have destroyed the party by putting their feet on the ground.
In the past, whatever KCR said was the law, but now even his daughter is not in a position to listen to what KCR says. The feeling that KCR is unable to tell his son KTR is also visible with the latest circumstances. There is also a discussion that the leader is unable to take his own decisions, not only does he not care about what KTR says.
The day Kavitha opened her mouth that there were coverts in the party, had KCR warned her or discussed with her, many party leaders felt that the situation may not worsen to the present extent. Many in the party are aware of Kavitha’s skills as Jagriti organizer in mobilizing masses behind her, unlike KTR, who is mostly confined to drawing rooms.
If Kavitha now chose to start her own political platform, unlike YS Sharmila, many felt should have potential to damage BRS to greater extent, though she may not excel herself. Particularly, her allegations of corruption against key BRS leaders will certainly provide a shrewd political weapon to both Congress and BJP.
However, this whole affair makes it clear that KCR has no grip on the party. Has KCR given up? KCR, who cannot control his own son and daughter, is making people wonder how he will control the party.
