Hyderabad: Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has criticised the Telangana government’s approach to the ongoing developments at the University of Hyderabad (HCU), stating that its handling of the situation is inappropriate and damaging to the state’s reputation.
In a statement, KCR extended his appreciation to the HCU students and the political parties supporting them, commending their efforts to uphold democratic values. He urged the state government to treat the HCU incident as a serious lesson in governance.
“The BRS government had transformed Telangana into a model state in the country. While we worked to elevate the state’s status, the current administration has failed to maintain that progress. The financial standing of Telangana has already been compromised, and the recent HCU developments have further dented the state’s image,” KCR remarked.
He called for responsible governance and emphasised that actions undermining institutions and student movements could have long-term consequences for the state’s credibility.
