Kavitha Targets Telangana CM, Accuses Him of Anti-Telangana Policies

Monday, April 28, 2025

BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched a fierce attack on the Telangana government during the Legislative Council session, highlighting several controversial issues.

Kavitha expressed discontent over Andhra-based music director MM Keeravani composing ‘Jaya Jaya He Telangana,’ stating that it was inappropriate for someone who did not bow to Telangana Talli during the statehood movement to design the Telangana Talli idol. She also criticized the exclusion of Telangana’s traditional festivals like Bathukamma and Bonalu from the idol design.

Addressing the Kaleshwaram project’s role in achieving 2.64 crore metric tonnes of paddy production, Kavitha dismissed the opposition’s portrayal of the Medigadda project as a failure. She accused the government of neglecting farmers, stating that crops are drying up while cattle and sheep graze on them.

“Employment is not limited to white-collar jobs. Rearing sheep, buffaloes, and fish is also a livelihood,” Kavitha asserted. She further accused the government of partially implementing the Mahalakshmi scheme and turning the bonus into a bogus promise, demanding the immediate payment of ₹2,500 to women.

Kavitha criticized the lack of basic medical supplies in government hospitals, including needles and cotton. She also demanded that the Shamim Akhtar report on SC classification be fully tabled and called for a white paper on the status of industries in the state, following rumors of industries shifting out of Telangana.

Taking a dig at the Legislative Council Chairman, Kavitha condemned his use of the term ‘nuisance’ against BRS MLCs who attempted to counter the false claims made by Congress and BJP members. She demanded the removal of the remark from the official records.

Kavitha accused the government of suspending BRS MLAs in the Assembly and using unparliamentary language against them in the Council, reflecting a vindictive approach by the ruling party.

Furthermore, she criticized the Chief Minister, stating that he played no role in the Telangana movement, which is why his decisions are going against the people of Telangana. Kavitha also highlighted the lack of representation for Muslims and Lambadas in the state cabinet.
