Hyderabad: BRS MLC K. Kavitha has strongly responded to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks that implied she could have a chance to become the Chief Minister if the pattern of leaders going to jail and later taking up top posts continues. Kavitha, during an interaction with the media, criticized such statements and advised the CM to prioritize governance over controversies.
“Governance, Not Controversy, Should Be the Focus”
Reacting to Revanth Reddy’s comments, Kavitha stated, “The Chief Minister’s role is not to entertain the public with controversies but to address real issues affecting people.” She accused him of consistently targeting BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao in speeches over the past year while neglecting to discuss initiatives that would benefit the public.
She added that BRS remains steadfast in its commitment to public welfare. “Our efforts have led to the cancellation of projects like the Lachacharla and ethanol units, and ₹100 crore from Adani has been returned. We will continue to oppose anti-people decisions and work for their reversal,” Kavitha said.
Jail Term a “Minor Pause” in Political Journey
Speaking about her time in jail, Kavitha described it as a brief interruption. “Being subjected to a false and conspiratorial case was a dark day in my political career, but it was merely a pause. I will not be deterred,” she asserted during the Telangana Bhavan’s Deeksha Diwas event.
Kavitha reaffirmed her commitment to public service, saying, “As a member of a political family with a background in activism, I will always voice issues that matter to the people. Conspiracies only strengthen our resolve.”
BC Census Advocacy and Public Issues
On being targeted for supporting the BC census, Kavitha remarked, “The criticism I face for advocating the BC census shows the fear I instill in my opponents. For us, people take precedence over politics. If my words can help others, I will always speak up.”
She also highlighted concerns about infant mortality in Telangana, stating, “Every ten days, we lose a newborn in Telangana. These are the issues we must address.”
Kavitha concluded by urging the Congress-led government to focus on effective governance and addressing the state’s pressing concerns instead of engaging in political distractions.
