Former YCP MLA and political hair of former chief minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Kasu Mahesh Reddy accused that it was former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s policies that led to humiliating defeat of the party in the recent polls. Ofcourse, he avoided referring to Jagan’s name.
Mahesh Reddy, who failed to re-elect from Gurazala constituency of Palnadu district, made sensational comments that the downfall of YCP started from the time the then leader of opposition Nara Chandrababu Naidu was insulted in the AP Legislative Assembly by YCP leaders, which led the later to boycott assembly sessions taking oath he will return only as a `Chief Minister’.
He made it clear that people could not tolerate some YCP leaders speaking disrespectfully against the opposition leaders. It may be recalled that several leaders, who had quit the party earlier, said that they were marginalized after they refused to use filthy language against TDP leaders like Chandrababu Naidu.
Moreover, he also alleged that his party was defeated because of the poor liquor and sand policies brought by the YSRCP government. He said that even though he told the elders of the party like Vijayasai Reddy and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy in advance, they did not listen.
He admitted that after defeat in the polls when he went round the villages he was able to realize the mistakes of the YCP government from the voices of the supporters only. Mahesh Reddy asserted that the main reason for YCP’s defeat was sales of inferior liquor. It is clear that people who drink alcohol did not vote for YCP, he added.
In the same way, he said that the poor people have suffered severely due to the sand policy. Apart from that, Mahesh Reddy referring to leaders like Kodali Nani and Vamshi said that abusive language used by some party leaders, who were defected from TDP, was not tolerated by the people.
Such insults had made the cadre and supporters of TDP more aggressive and determined, which led to defeat of the YCP government, he added. He said that history shows that no matter who is insulted, they grow up and become successful.
Mahesh Reddy stated that whether Jagan resounding victory in 2019 or presently Chandrababu’s stunning success only because of insults they experienced from their political opponents. However, he said they will review in the party on how they were defeated and take up corrective measures under the leadership of Jaganmohan Reddy.
