Following the massive pan-India success of the regional blockbuster Kantara, its prequel Kantara: Chapter 1 is slated for a worldwide release on October 2 as part of the Dussehra festivities. With high expectations for the prequel, the production team has finalized a release across over 7,000 screens nationwide. The film will be available in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, alongside an international English version. Due to the first part’s popularity in South America, the prequel has also been dubbed in Spanish.
Extensive Promotional Campaigns Underway
With around ten days remaining until release, promotional activities are in full swing. Director Rishab Shetty is overseeing post-production work, while music composer Ajaneesh Loknath is finalizing the background score. The team is scheduled to tour major cities, beginning with Kochi on October 27, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad. A North India press tour is also planned from September 29 to 30.
In a cultural initiative, the Karnataka Postal Circle, in collaboration with the film’s production house, has released a special Kantara-themed cover. Designed to reflect Kannada culture and traditions, the cover has been described as a rare honor for regional heritage. “As part of the Spirit of Karnataka initiative, two postcards inspired by Bhoothakol have been released, showcasing spirituality, folklore, and culture. With support from Hombale Films, these cards highlight Kantara’s cultural heritage for audiences worldwide, inspiring future generations,” India Post stated.
The promotional strategy combines modern marketing with traditional outreach, emphasizing the film’s cultural and regional roots while engaging audiences both nationally and internationally.
The release of Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to build on the success of its predecessor, expanding the franchise’s pan-India and global footprint and celebrating Kannada folklore and heritage on a wider platform.
